Charlestown Beach is a hidden gem, perfect for those seeking a peaceful spot to enjoy a sunset picnic or a romantic evening. With its stunning sunset views, this beach is a favorite spot for proposals and intimate gatherings. At the far end of the beach, you’ll find a long jetty that borders the channel to Great Salt Pond, an ideal location for fishing or simply watching boats sail in and out of New Harbor.
Access to Charlestown Beach is via Coast Guard Road (also known as Champlin Road), just past the entrance to Champlin’s Marina. Follow the dirt road, and as it curves sharply to the right near the end, the beach access becomes easy to spot. Keep in mind that there is no parking available, and mopeds are not allowed on the dirt road, so walking or biking is your best bet. While the beach is beautiful, it’s not ideal for swimming due to its rocky shoreline.
